Bay St Louis and Mississippi Gulf Coast anglers!!! PLEASE keep an eye out for the PINK TAGS!!!
Shore Thing Charters helped the wonderful folks at University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Research Lab tag and release around another twenty more fish this week(May 2024) with Acoustic transmitters. Several of the fish from 2023 have been captured and reported in.
If you catch a redfish, sheepshead or black drum with the pink tag, please call the number on the tag and report the TAG #, DATE, LENGTH AND LOCATION.
If you harvest the fish, there will be a small black transmitter inside the fish. It’s about the size of about half the size of a tube of chap stick. These transmitters are very important to the folks at GCRL. They can also be reused for several years. The data collected off these devices will be used for locations in future reef building.
